Probability: the chance that something will happen - how likely it is that some event will happen.
Today's Learning Task
1) Create and colour your own spinner any way you like.
2) Calculate the probabilities of landing on each colour as a fraction, decimal and percentage (percentage for grade six only).
3) Calculate the probabilities of landing on each colour for a trial of 20 spins and put this information into a frequency table.
4) Use the information in the frequency table to create a column graph displaying the predicted probabilities.
5) Look at your graph and make a prediction about what you think would happen if you conducted a trial of twenty spins.
6) Conduct a trial of twenty spins and use a frequency table to display results.
7) Use the information in the frequency table to create a column graph displaying your results.
8) Look at both of your graphs and explain how the trial was different from your predictions. Tell me why you think this happened?
